Why we support a different approach
Our focus is straightforward: cities should be able to encourage useful investment in land without taxing the value of improvements under a land-only levy.
Land value taxation puts the tax base on the site, rather than the buildings on it. It can change the incentives around vacant land, construction and renovation.
The Act and the longer-term goal
Supporting the Vibrant Cities Act is the coalition’s current focus. Beyond the VCA, our goal is to pass new levies that are 100% land value tax.
